College collage

The two places where I spent some of my savings during college days were at Quaipo and Divisoria. It is also the busiest market place in Manila where you can find anything you need for school, home or business -all at low price. It's also my favorite place for photo walks, hello street photography. hehe.. Since all my expenses were on budget during that time, this is where I got my best buy trendy shoes, everyday school wear, things I need for my projects, supplies for artsy stuff, and camera necessities.

Going here with May (my younger sister that will soon be in college) again gave me instant thoughts of moments I had with selected patient people I spent time with.
Hello guys! (you know who you are) ^_^

College life in Manila won't be complete without these places being part of it.

"Ate, babalik ako dito lagi!"

Biglang Tama

Hindi ko inaasahan
Surpresa sa aking daanan
Pagdating mo ng biglaan
Walang sadyang nasaktuhan.

Hindi ko naman kailangan
Bigla na lang hinahanap
Pagdating mo ng biglaan,
Oras ng ako'y tinamaan.

Hindi ko hinahanap
Bigla ka naging kailangan
Walang oras na nasayang
Lahat naging makabuluhan.

Hindi ko inasahan
Biglang hulog sa 'yong lansangan
Pagdating mo ng biglaan
Biglaan din ang hangganan.

Words on Hand

I was amazed on how someone created this sculpted-like paper cut letter fragments. Holding hand writings with your bare hands makes every word speak so real. Annie Vought passion for art and strong interest for handwritten records from individuality's true expression fueled her to make this work. Her genuine workmanship shows her paper cut letters treasure-worthy. Just wondering', how will you react after receiving a love letter like this?...

"My recreating the letters is an extended concentration on peoples’ inner lives and the ways they express their thoughts through writing."
-Annie Vought

Photography Workshop at Shutterspace Studios

Shutterspace Studios offered a free photography workshop with celebrity/fashion photographer, Raymund Isaac. The workshop encouraged us to pursue photography to the next level -to be Pro. We are first timers in this studio, and the place is pretty dope. From vinyl polished floors, neat white walls, complete lighting supply, wide white space, huge glass windows up to the precision of zen-like interior details and the nostalgic record player.

From top left; loft studio office, DSLR's of some participants, strobe lighting equipment I would like to have, and the whole batch of participants. (taken after the Q and A session with Raymund)

Here we are. :) Photo from Shutterspace Studios

Major takeaways:

*Get inspiration from the masters
Not only from photographers, but most especially from famous paintings, illustrations, and even comic books. We browse pegs from magazines, and it's ok. Just make sure you'll create a better version of it. Think of possibilities you could get from another source.

*Never forget the basics
Start from using one light source and break the rules after mastering it. I still use my lampshade for my portraits and natural light. Not bad.

*Whatever they think, think the opposite
If anyone thinks the same, no one will stand out. So are you?

*Beauty is relative
-Anything is possible depends on your interpretation. Start setting your own standard of beauty.

*Don't rely on photoshop
I'm guilty on this, sometimes. I'll be patient. Let's make frozen moments realistic.

*Don't lose your interest
Keep learning, keep on shooting. Show your work! Be out there and make new connections and friends.

*Know how to read people
You see, you can use your psychology skills. He was sharing on how to deal with different kind of people. He sites an example, and to my surprise, he was talking about me. He read me! "She's confident that's she's  beautiful. She thought it's given and there's no need to flaunt it. That's why she's hiding it with her bangs."

*Don't be afraid to share
Not just your photographs, but also your blessings. God got your back when you give back. :)

and lastly, "Wear pink." -Raymund Isaac

Guess Who's Stalking

We recently had this cute little dog from my mom’s office mate named Nash, so instantly she named her Nashy. This puppy is so little, quite fragile, and irresistible. I can't get rid of pinching her tiny legs and cold nose. My younger sis and brothers keep on lifting her like a new born baby. Just cuddly! ^_^

Nashy

As I watched her sniffed on my bed, it gave me a thought of how people sneaks on someone’s identity. Top of mind?.. Facebook stalking. Today, anyone has a potential of getting the job of a private detective. haha..how? its just a click away. They can easily track someone else endeavors  by browsing through his/her page, judging the person based on photographs posted, or easily
get to know the person deeper by simple reading his/her insights.

I'm guilty of that. I admit every time I got to know someone new,.. I google bigtime! (but its not a continuous process). I do that just to know them better or sometimes out of curiosity. Trust me. :)

When you're doing it for these reasons;

*continually monitoring him/her
*making false accusations
*making threats
*gathering info to harass
*identity theft
..it makes you a certified cyber stalker.

Please, don't be like one.

Let's respect and accept our differences.
Better to be extra careful, be on guard and be responsible with our posts.

Tom Cruise Rockstar Alter Ego

It gave me a second look after seeing the new cover of W magazine for June issue. He looks real as a rock god from the eighties. W Magazine made a cover story for his upcoming movie Rock of Ages. These photos quite excites me to watch how he plays his character as Stacee Jaxx. It's enthralling to see how he sings, plays the guitar and performs on stage intensely out of the norm.

Beautiful People that Uses Leica

The most compact, sharp, fast shooter that creates crisp timeless photographs is the luxurious Leica digital camera. I got inspired more to see beautiful people use it, some are from motion pictures I've seen. Compiling these images made me drool more for the latest Leica digicam. Here are the different faces of Leica.
Audrey Tautou

Scarlett Johanson
Penelope Cruz
Jennifer Conelly
Bradley Cooper

Julia Roberts
Jeniffer Love Hewitt
John Mayer
Brad Pitt
and the Queen Elizabeth II

I really wish BIGTIME to have one. The latest costs more than two million pesos. More expensive than I've thought!

Don't Let Me Go

"Don't let go of your dreams. If you have determination and belief in your dreams, you will succeed in spite of your desire to let go."

Embracing Changes

Unexpected things happen for a reason. It can be from random situations like on your regular work days, during the rush hour on the road, while reading the news feed on facebook, killing time on bookstores, watching people how they walk, listening songs to your iPod on repeat, eating your favorite ice cream, or in anything you normally do that molds your lifestyle on a daily basis.

What stops you from your normal routine? It's simply losing it.

I find myself unprepared for what happened to me lately. It attacked my career. It suddenly stopped my daily motion. Yes, its unbearable and I should be saddened about it, but I don't know why I'm still at ease and grateful for what happened to me.

What is my source of joy?

"The source of joy defines your action and reaction. We lose our joy when we lose our source." I got this truth from Grace Manilao's preaching. One of her points was letting God be our source of joy. It is placing your joy to the one that never fails and gives you fullness of it. It was very timely..before the unexpected happened, I've already kept it on my grip and placed my source intact. :)

"If you do what you've always done, you are going to get what you've always gotten."

Maybe its a wake up call to change my routine and start doing what is rightfully made for me. I am not pretty sure where, when and how will I start doing it..whatever it is, I'm excited for greater things along the way.

"When you stop chasing the wrong things, you give the right things a chance to catch you."

You just have to stop in order to start all over again and keep your life on track. Just completely put your trust in Him. Embrace changes wholeheartedly and get ready to be moved.
